Firefox 3

 Use OpenOffice.org

Ubuntu: Linux for Human Beings

The GIMP

gedit (A text editor)
     What can I say? I just really like gizmos, gadgets, buttons, wires, switches, electricity and computers (which is pretty much everything mashed together). I've used Windows since birth, and still do, but in the summer of '08 I started using Ubuntu because:
       * I like the interface
       * It's free
       * It's secure, even without anti-virus/anti-spyware/firewall
       * It has great community support
       * It's open source (which considering my programming skills doesn't mean much, except that that means:)
       * It's extremely "pimpable"
       * And finally, it doesn't crash.
     Generally speaking, I'm a big fan of FLOSS (Free Libre Open-Source Software/GNU (GNU's Not Unix)/GPLs (General Public License)/etc. As such, I:
       *Browse the web with Firefox (OK, no matter how you slice it, Firefox is the best browser. I'll fight you on that one :) )
       *Create documents with OpenOffice.org, and (try) to make pictures with the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)
       *Interact with my hardware using Ubuntu Linux (but we've been through that alrady)
       *Etc, etc, etc.

     I'm not going to take this opportunity to brag about how great my computer is because you don't care, and I'm also not going to evangelize anything on this page to you (with the possible exception of Firefox) because you don't care, and so you might be wondering why I made this in the first place. Answer: the title of the page was Timmy's Webpage :: Tech, erego, you get a rant from Timmy on techy stuff.Hey--you clicked on it :)
